Norisha Programme

Protection & Family Support

When a household is strengthened, everyone within it has a better chance.

The Challenge

Vulnerability within a family rarely comes from a single cause. Disability, family instability, the loss of a caregiver, chronic or serious illness, poverty and income disruption, unsafe or unstable living conditions, caregiving pressure, social exclusion and barriers to essential services can each place a household at risk on their own — and they frequently overlap. When several of these pressures combine, families are less able to cope through short-term or one-off assistance alone. Norisha's approach is to understand a household's situation as a whole and connect it to coordinated, verified support rather than isolated interventions.

Family Stability & Protection

A family under pressure deserves support, not judgement.

Vulnerable households — including families affected by disability or serious illness, widows, widowers, grandparent-headed households and child-headed or highly fragile households — often face more than one pressure at the same time. Norisha intends to work with caregivers, children and community structures to assess household needs, connect families to appropriate community-based support and referral pathways, and help restore stability while respecting each family's own agency and capability.

Grandparent-Led Households

An older caregiver holding a family together deserves support too.

Grandparents and other older relatives often carry the full responsibility of raising children after the loss of a parent, serious illness, family disruption, migration, economic hardship or other vulnerability — frequently with limited income, mobility or support of their own. Norisha intends to work alongside grandparent-led and other older-caregiver households to help sustain continuity of care, keep children safe and connected to school, and support the caregiver's own wellbeing. Where appropriate, this may include support toward food and household stability, alongside referrals and navigation to relevant community-based services. The intention is always to strengthen the family and the caregiving relationship already in place, not to replace it or treat the household as helpless.
